The Need for Tweed Picnic!

The much anticipated Sydney Tweed Ride won't be happening this year.  Despite the phenomenall efforts of the organisers they couldn't secure the insurance necessary for the event to take place.  We couldn't let the Winter pass without some sort of Tweedy event and so to keep the spirit of the Tweed ride alive in the hopes of it returning next year we are holding a picnic.  You can check out the details on FB here:

Vivienne Westwood Does It Better

Dame Vivienne Westwood rides a bicycle (and look at those heels). That should be enough to convince anybody to get on a bike.

Added to that she sends her models down the catwalk on bikes- in six inch platforms.

I don't recommend trying this at home...

It might not be the most practical, but if we all practice, everyday, I'm sure we'll be looking as ridiculously good in no time...

Bonjour, ça va?

Bonjour mon ami! Ça va? Ah, bien, merci!

K-Star and S-Boy are getting all continental and about to embark on a trip to Amsterdam via the rest of Europe and Beyond. With the impending departure of one part of the Feather Brigade on that most holy of bicycle pilgrimages- a trip to the Dutch home of stylish cycling- I thought I would share some pictures with you from one of our other far flung Feather Brigaders.

L-Pop captured some Paris cycling when she was last there. Painfully chic and utterly nonchalant... this is how Parisians do it...

I keep hope that one day Sydney will have a Paris style bike share program...

I also really like the little bike stencil used in Paris. The fact that a person is a part of the logo helps to humanize the awareness/warning that cyclists are about... better than the "vehicle" only stencils around Sydney...

Bike Love on Valentine's Day!

What do we love on Valentine's Day?  We love bikes, we love the people who ride them, we love cycleways and we love Clover Moore!  So what better way to show our love and appreciation than to stalk a busy Bourke St Cycleway intersection armed with flowers and lollipops...

A few people were a little afraid of such positive enthusiasm aimed their way, on an early Tuesday morning (this can be an uncommon occurence in car-heavy Sydney), but we got lots of smiles and waves soon enough!

It was great to interact with the bikelists that you normally just pass by and we did enjoy seeing bike traffic at the lights!

There was no alternative motive for us other than to share our enthusiasm for bicycles and to capture some of our community in action using the cycleway... 

And while we were there, what better time to deliver one's own Valentine to their love... S-boy travels on Bourke st each day, so we waited and waited...

Then spotted...

And delivered.  Ahh romance and bikes!

And to top off a happy, love-filled morning who did we see?  Clover Moore - Who could love bikelists more?
