I have to admit my inner-industrial-designer really likes bikes because of the clean, simple lines. A little bit of close-up, abstract bike frame in a photo produces pretty interesting results...

Bike in Lights!

Summer in Sydney is sweltering... What good reason could there be to go for a bike ride in 33deg heat and 78% hummidity? To see your name in lights of course for the Sydney Festival or in our case our crocheted monkey Milky Joe's name!

To get there was a sweaty but enjoyable ride. S-boy practised his Tour de France waterbottle moves...

Whereas I just glistened...

We arrived and camped out in the 1 metre patch of shade we found. Phew!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

While we waited for the big moment to arrive Milky happily posed for pictures.

And tried on new names that sounded cool...

Then it was time... Milky Joe SUPERSTAR!!

Then just for fun, our bike names came up...

(Florence miraculously appeared in spirit!)

Then ta da... The coolest bike gang in the world...

Oh the exhilaration, the overwhelming 15 seconds of glory. How can we ever top this? Oh thats how... by hitting the pool as soon as we got home. Good work Milky Joe!

P.S. I have to include a photo of this guy who we spotted on the way home. This is not the first time I've seen him but it is the first time I was quick enough with my camera to capture him. He rides around Darling harbour with the mask on, the mirrors and the flags creating a stir by tooting randomly at people. Nuisance or bike advocate? Hmmm...

Roll into Twenty-Eleven

We hope everyone had a blast for new years. I personally think there should be rules that new year's eve celebrations must include sparklers, disco lights, and as many fairy lights as you can plug in.

For successful new year's eve parties I also recommend mass party migrations down to the nearest fireworks vantage point, a swim at 2am, watching Labyrinth (oh Bowie) then heading out on your bike with the friends who are rad enough to have lasted!

01/01/11 was a beautiful sunny day, perfect weather for new year's day. Our lovely Feather Brigaders E and A joined us for a trip to the markets and the search for precious, new year's day gozleme.

(The guys in the car behind E and S totally wish they were in our bike gang :P)

We then made our leisurely way back home to dump ourselves into the pool again with everyone's favourite party mascot, Milky Joe.

New Year's Resolution: Have more lovely days like this, filled with friends and bikes.

Bondi - the end of the world!*

*Bondi is not the end of the world.. it is merely a beach that people like to frequent, sometimes on bicycles, sometimes by goat.

Photobucket

The Feather Brigade joined the Cute Commute and rode to Bondi in style last weekend. Why?? Well, the Bicycle Film Festival is why!! It was a gorgeous day. There was a really big hill. But thats ok. It's whats on the other side that counts...

Miss J-bot looked mighty fine as did Miss L-bow. We did beachy poses of course and then ate ice cream.

Thanks to the Cute Commute for organising a brilliant ride. If you attended, feel free to play 'Wheres Wally?' (you) in the pictures below.

As for the films, well next year we are adding ours to the bunch. After all we can't all be daredevil fixie and bmx riders now can we?
